As a kid Maluma sold sandwiches and candy at school.
Maluma’s Family went through a difficult financial time when his parents’ divorce, the now Colombian star was only 10 years old and then became the “man of the house.” As a kid the reggaeton singer felt the need to help out his single mother, so he began selling sandwiches and candy at school. Today Maluma talks about these hard times with much pride, and even shared that once he made a $35 profit which back then his mom needed very much.
His Aunt introduced him to reggaaton.
Maluma’s aunt and also public figure Yudy Arias introduced reggaeton to Maluma while driving in her car, later Arias and her husband became Maluma’s first managers. The “Chantaje” singer started performing at local parties, quienseañeras, and local events thanks to his aunt and uncle … and he fell in love with it all!
