Medtech Products Inc voluntarily recalled five lots of its Little Remedies® Honey Cough Syrup on June 17 due to the presence of "Bacillus cereus and loss of shelf-stability."

According to the United States Food and Drug Administration, Bacillus cereus, or B. cereus, can cause two types of food-borne illnesses with symptoms ranging from "nausea, vomiting, and stomach cramps that can start 1 to 6 hours after eating or drinking contaminated food" to "stomach cramps and diarrhea that can start 8 to 16 hours after eating or drinking contaminated food."

Healthy individuals might experience short-term illness, but exposure to high levels of this bacteria can cause death.

The recalled Little Remedies® Honey Cough Syrup bottles were distributed nationwide (including stores in Texas) from December 14, 2022 through June 4, 2025.

Recalled lot numbers include 0039, 0545, 0640, 0450, and 1198. View the full list of expiration dates that correlate with each lot number in the chart displayed on FDA.gov.

No illnesses were reported as a result of consuming the product. Officials are urging customers who previously purchased the recalled products to "stop using it immediately and contact their physician or healthcare provider if they have experienced any problems that may be related to the use of this product."
