Three strangers took an unexpected road trip together after their flight was canceled on Monday. WFAA reported that the three people were in Baltimore headed back to Austin when their flight was canceled.
They told KVUE, "We met in line 24 hours ago."
Thousands of flights were canceled after a winter storm wreaked havoc all across the United States. The canceled flights turned many strangers into fast friends.
The three said, "Out only option was a flight going into Dallas on Friday, and that was on the waitlist."
So on Tuesday morning, Erica Haworth, Kerry Sherin, and Jasper Gulliver all pitched in to rent a car to get back home. They ended up snagging the very last rental car and headed out.
Sherin said, "We were lucky to get the last car because they were completely sold out, and looking at Avis, Hertz and all of the other ones at the local airport, it said no cars available this morning."
According to the three, other airlines were charging upwards of $2,000 for flights, while their car rental was only $250.
Sherin said, "We're sending our wishes to everybody that, you know, maybe isn't in that same situation, wasn't able to get a car and is still wondering what is going on."
The group was able to later claim their luggage at AUS.
