Jana Kramer has opened up about her abusive marriage to her first husband,Michael Gambino.
She met Gambino, who was 17 years her senior, in Los Angeles when she was 19. They married after only two weeks of dating and shortly after the wedding, things turned ugly.
Gambino was often angry and jealous, and would beat Jana. Things finally came to a head when he choked her until she was unconscious and left her bleeding outside of their home. He was arrested for attempted murder and served six years. He was released in 2010 and committed suicide in 2012.
Now, Jana wants to help other women who are in abusive relationships. She tells People, “If I can help one person, I’ll be thankful for what happened and I can move forward.”
