Moms and tias can now bond with their daughters and sobrinas as they watch the old school flick '16 Candles' before binging the new Selena Gomez comedy, '15 Candles.' Just in case you are too young to remember the coming-of-age classic from 1984 starring Molly Ringwald, here's the trailer.
The new '15 Candles' was co-produced by Selena's July Moon Productions alongside Tanya Saracho and Christine Dávila from Ojalá Productions, and Gabriela Revilla Lugo. The show was also co-written by Saracho and Lugo. If you recognize the name Tanya Saracho, that's probably because she also produced and co-wrote "Vida" on Starz among many other projects. The new Gomez series is looking to reimagine "Sixteen Candles" but with a Latinx twist.
Selena Gomez has been active behind the scenes on several projects in recent years, and she has said that she enjoys being a part of the storytelling process behind the scenes, and it shows! She's produced projects like "Living Undocumented," which follows undocumented families as they try to create a life in the U.S. Other projects include the HBO Max series "Selena + Chef," and the Netflix series "13 Reasons Why." Gomez is said to be currently producing over a dozen different projects.
There's currently no release date available, or a cast as of yet.
